From January 2022 the preventive treatment of all cows will be prohibited, therefore it is necessary to select the cows to be subjected to antibiotic treatment. Selective drying takes on new value thanks to PLF which can support, as never before, choice and timing based on rational and concrete criteria that avoid the risk of increasing mastitis cases in the company and creating antibiotic resistance.

The PLFNODRUG project, funded by the Lombardy Region and created by the CREA Research Center for Zootechnics and Aquaculture, aims to provide the first indications on which data can be most useful in the barn to support the breeder and the veterinarian in evaluating the individual cow.
