The Balestreri Prize

The Balestrieri Award is a prize sponsored by the National Young Breeders Association (ANGA), and has for years been awarded at the Zootecniche Cremona International Exhibition. It is named after a young breeder, Mino Balestrieri, who lost his life in a tragic traffic accident at just 25 years of age in 1998. A graduate in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Piacenza, he had already started working at the family farm with his father. His death grieved not only his family, but also his many friends who, to commemorate the quality and passion he brought to his work, instituted the Award which bears his name, which is awarded annually during the Zootecniche Cremona International Exhibition, with the participation of CremonaFiere, which from the very start recognised the importance and value of this symbolic gesture.
