Zootecniche Cremona International Exhibition, the fulcrum for the development of the dairy industry
CremonaFiere: “preparations for the 2024 exhibition testify to the continuing growth and innovation of the industry”
Celebrated since 2001 on 1 June every year in 40 countries, World Milk Day was inaugurated by the FAO (the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation) to spotlight the importance of milk and the dairy industry value chain.
In Italy, this role is exemplified by Cremona, the undisputed Italian dairy capital, which has also been the setting for the annual ZOOTECNICHE CREMONA INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION for almost 80 years, to be held from 28 to 30 November in 2024.
The exhibition, which in 2023 featured not only a renewed format but also registered a significant growth in exhibitors, promises to be no less interesting to international participants and visitors this year.
“World Milk Day is a moment for the livestock industry to show itself to the world,” says Roberto Biloni, Chairmanof CremonaFiere. “The industry works all year to produce a complete, safe and high quality product which we also celebrate due to the central role it plays in our food. World Milk Day is thus an emblematic milestone along the path to November’s livestock exhibition at Cremona.”
“Professional events like our Zootecniche Cremona International Exhibitions make an essential contribution to the value chain they represent,” Biloni continues. “We (the exhibition, the territory, authorities, universities, research centres, trade associations, companies and stock farmers) are all aware that our team work adds value to the sector in terms of productivity and our capacity to communicate our values – first and foremost sustainability and quality.”
“Preparations for the event,” says Massimo De Bellis, CEO of CremonaFiere, “are already well along, and we are consolidating our relationships with stock farmers and producers to demonstrate our vision of the value chain with solutions for stock raising, outstanding specimens of livestock, and conferences on advanced solutions for animal husbandry.”
The exhibition’s relationship with stock farmers has always been very close: “preparations for the 2024 event started in January, immediately after the 2023 edition, with occasions for review and follow-up meetings. We have been holding regular meetings with Italian and foreign stock farmers (who are key to the success of the event) for months now, in line with our view that the exhibition has always been and always will be grounded in the work of the stock farmers and producers, and their dedication to the livestock industry.”
Although the event is still some months away, the numbers are already looking good, starting with the animals themselves – 600 specimens from all over Italy and seven foreign countries were shown in 2023, coming from 150 stock farms and representing the very best Holstein, Red Holstein, Brown Swiss and Jersey bloodlines – and continuing with the companies which, in many cases, given the outstanding success of the 2023 exhibition, have wasted no time in registering for this year’s event in early 2024 (in 2023, 200 companies participated, representing 400 brands). The programme of conferences, always a highlight at Cremona, is also being drawn up, including established events (the “On the way to Cremona” competition for schools, a calendar of meetings on technical and economic issues and spotlights on current events, as well as education and training) and a number of new entries featuring prestigious partners which are being confirmed at the present time.
