Post-Day Protocol 1 . Simulate Transition milk using Bovine Colostrum Powder.

Colostrum, by definition the milk from the first milking, is of fundamental importance for the purpose of transferring immunity to the newborn calf. However, the value of colostrum lies not only in the fact that it is an indispensable source of antibodies, but also in the numerous bio-active components that have a positive effect on growth, nutrient utilization, and ultimately milk production. These components, although to a lesser extent, are also present in transitional milk, so if it is possible, feeding transitional milk to calves in the first 4-5 days is an advantageous practice. If in the current management procedures in heifer rearing, this practice is difficult to implement, the use of colostrum powder added to the milk fed to calves can effectively replace the administration of transitional milk with postive effects on calf health.
