FROM AI IN THE BARN TO PHOSPHORUS-FREE CHEESE: AT CREMONA, THE INTERNATIONAL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITION SPEAK TO THE FUTURE

From November 26 to 28, 70 events on technology, young people and consumers. Among the new features: Artificial Intelligence applied to livestock farming, the “It’s Not a Job for Men” project, and the Fuori Salone in the city center.

Cremona, September 29, 2026 – Artificial Intelligence is entering the barns, scientific research is creating cheeses suitable for people with kidney conditions, and women are leading the revolution in sustainable livestock farming. This is a sector undergoing profound change, tied to tradition but projected toward technology, science and young people, and it will be on display at the Zootecniche Cremona International Exhibition from November 26 to 28 at the CremonaFiere pavilions.

In addition to the traditional, imposing exhibition area with world-class livestock shows, the three-day event offers a calendar of more than 70 appointments designed not only for industry professionals, but also to show citizens and consumers how the world of food and agriculture is changing.

“The Zootecniche Cremona International Exhibition are the leading event in Europe for the sector and increasingly attract professionals from the rest of the world as well. I believe our role is to create the conditions for professionals and institutions to come together and offer a vision of the future of the sector, of new technologies, and of the professions that are emerging and will lead in the coming years,” said Roberto Biloni, President of CremonaFiere. “Alongside our professional mission there is an educational aspect. The Fair must help the sector explain to consumers all of its virtues, which are then found in the products we eat, such as sustainability, quality and animal welfare.”

Research news: from inclusive food to Artificial Intelligence among the highest-impact events is the presentation of “FriP” (free phosphate) cheese, a nutritional breakthrough developed to allow people with chronic kidney disease to consume dairy products as well. A central space will also be dedicated to digitalization: in collaboration with CREA and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Politecnico di Milano, several workshops will show how Artificial Intelligence and precision livestock farming are now helping to monitor animal health, reducing the use of medication and improving environmental sustainability.

Ample space will also be given to generational turnover and the increasingly central role of women in the sector. With the third edition of the “It’s Not a Job for Men” format, the event will put the spotlight on “pink livestock farming,” telling the stories of the women entrepreneurs who are driving innovation in the sector. At the same time, young people will be the protagonists of the future of the profession through the “On the Way to Cremona” competition for high school students, and a series of initiatives dedicated to the new generations of farmers.

To understand what reaches families’ tables every day, the event will present the latest data from the CremonaFiere Observatory on the milk world, analyzing consumption trends and new market trends for meat and its derivatives. Livestock farming will also step outside the pavilions to meet citizens directly with the Fuori Salone, a route through Cremona’s historic center to introduce people to the values of the supply chain: quality, sustainability, research and animal welfare. The picture is completed by the presence of trade delegations and buyers from around the world, accompanied by ITA – Italian Trade Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
